The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Emory Proton Therapy Center, a cancer-treatment medical facility located in Atlanta.
Part of the charitable organization’s nationwide 2025 grant funding celebration, Dunkin’ Joy’s donation will go towards expanding the Emory Proton Therapy Center’s apartment assistance fund, which provides nearby housing for families whose children are undergoing treatment.
Each year, the proton therapy facility treats around 120 children, with more than 20% of patient families having to travel long distances to ensure care, according to a release.
With the new funding, the center expects to house 10 families and support over 50 pediatric patients through various assistance, including gift cards for essentials and notable milestones.
The goal of the fund is to help children to remain close to their loved ones while receiving the care they need during treatment, said a Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation press release.
“Experiences like surgery, illness, or hospitalization can take away the everyday joys of simply being a child,” said Emilly Bartels, Dunkin’ field marketing manager. “With the support of our franchisees, partners and guests, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation can provide grants to hospitals like Emory that bring comfort, normalcy, and joy to kids and families when they need it most.”
The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation raised the money through a number of Atlanta-based and national initiatives, including Dunkin’ Donuts’ “Iced Coffee Day” and the foundation’s yearly “Give Joy” campaign.
Since 2006, the foundation has awarded more than $60 million in grants to children’s hospitals, food banks and nonprofit organizations across the U.S.
