Dr. Charlie McAdoo Jr., a Druid Hills teacher, coach, and mentor, has been named the 2025 Falcons Fan of the Year.

The honor, granted by a panel of judges based on community spirit, fandom, and inspirational story, will send McAdoo to San Francisco in February to vie for NFL Fan of the Year.

McAdoo, a Little Rock, AR, native, has been a Falcons fan since he was in college at Clark Atlanta University – in particular, since the 1998 NFC Championship against the Minnesota Vikings, when Morton Andersen won the game 30-27 with a field goal in sudden death overtime.

Today, McAdoo has over 20 years of experience as a teacher and community leader. He currently serves as a college and career coach at Decatur High School, a volunteer youth coach with Druid Hills Youth Sports and the Glenn Memorial Basketball League, as well as a mentor with Jack and Jill.

McAdoo was nominated for the award by his wife Billynda and was surprised to be bestowed the honor at his school. He called the surprise “heartwarming.”

Fans from each of the 32 NFL teams were granted the same award for their team, and they will all receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to this year’s Super Bowl in San Francisco, as well as an all-expense-paid trip to the 2026 NFL Draft. McAdoo said he’s never been to the Super Bowl before, and he’ll be bringing his father with him.

NFL fans will vote for one of the 32 honorees to be the NFL Fan of the Year, who will be honored at the NFL Honors Ceremony during Super Bowl week.

“This [honor] represents teachers, this represents mentors, this represents people that do good in the community and try to help other people,” McAdoo told Rough Draft. “I think that’s what the Atlanta Falcons represent. They represent faith and redemption – and this year, we need faith!”
