An unexpected connection
๐จ๐ณ Donโt miss an exhibit about the Jewish people who resettled in Shanghai, China, from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Russia: โHidden History: Recounting the Shanghai Jewish Experience“ at the Breman.
In the 1930s, Shanghai was the hub of Chinaโs international trade. By 1938, the fourth largest city in the world had 17,000 Jewish refugees. Shanghai required no entry visa, therefore becoming one of the only options for German and Austrian Jews trying to escape the Holocaust.
