Landau details the shocking events that followed the murder of Lita McClinton, a Black socialite from a politically powerful Atlanta family, who was gunned down in broad daylight just around the corner from the Atlanta History Center. On Sat., Aug. 17 at 11 a.m., celebrate Bookstore Romance Day at Virginia Highland Books with book signings from three romance authors. The three featured authors include HK Jacobs, author of “Wild Type,” Hope Gibbs, author of “Where the Grass Grows Blue,” and Michelle McCraw, author of the “Synergy” romance series and “Frenemies and Lovers.” This event is free and open to the public.
On Sun., Aug. 18 at 6 p.m., Emmanuel Acho, 3x New York Times bestselling author of “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew,” sits down at The Temple with Rabbi Peter S. Berg and Ebenezer’s Rev. Dr. John H. Vaughn for a conversation about the challenges he faced as he set out to write a book about antisemitism and the uncomfortable questions he needed to ask and understand to become an ally that today’s Jewish community needs. On Tues., Aug. 20 at 7 p.m., A Capella Books welcomes acclaimed “American Pop” author Snowden Wright to celebrate the release of his latest book, “The Queen City Detective Agency” for the August edition of Writers at the Wrecking Bar, a series of author interview events showcasing some of the country’s freshest voices in fiction.
