Lostintheletters, a non-profit hosting creative writing and literacy empowerment programs, has announced the launch of the 2026 Young Writers Studio, a free creative writing and professional development program for high school students in Atlanta.

Running from January to May 2026 in the new Lostintheletters Writing Studio and Bookstore, the Young Writers Studio will offer students 14-18 the opportunity to learn directly from award-winning authors, explore their creative identities, and join a thriving literary community.

“I look at these students and think about how much a space like this would have meant to me when I was their age,” Armida Yee-Muñoz, Lostintheletters’ Program and Outreach Intern, said. “We want to ensure they walk away more confident, more empowered, and more aware that they belong in literary spaces.”

Participants of the program will meet monthly for writing workshops, seminars, and collaborative learning sessions led by instructors Steven Duong, Chris Ketchum, Angela Tharpe, Josie Tolin, and Natalie Villacorta. Throughout the course, students will write 10,000+ words across genres, read two books of their choice, participate in public reading events, engage in peer workshops modeled on college writing programs, and more.

Interested families can learn more about the program at the Open House on Dec. 12 at the Lostintheletters Writing Studio at 6 p.m. Enrollment is capped at 20 students, and recruitment efforts will prioritize students in disinvested neighborhoods like Carver, Maynard Jackson, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and more. RSVP and receive more information about the Young Writers Studio here.
