After announcing a plan to expand to four more metro Atlanta locations, NFA Burger owner Billy Kramer can check one of those locations off his list. A second, full-service location of NFA Burger will open this spring at Avalon in Alpharetta.
Kramer said he chose Avalon for its “walkability and focus on great local food.”
Located in the former Rina space at Avalon, NFA Burger in Alpharetta will include indoor and outdoor seating with TVs, a walk-up window for takeout orders, an expanded food menu, and a full bar. People will continue to order at the counter before finding a seat in the dining room or on the patio.
Expect the menu to include hot dogs, tater tots, fries, and waffles, along with NFA’s popular smashburgers, like the Billy’s Classic. The seared double-beef patty comes topped with American cheese, pickles, mustard, and “sassy” sauce on a Martin’s potato bun. The Alpharetta location will also feature milkshakes, beer, wine, and cocktails.

A Dunwoody resident, Kramer first began popping up with his smashburgers at area restaurants before opening a permanent location of NFA Burger six years ago inside the Chevron market on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Since then, Kramer’s burgers have racked up accolade after accolade and been recognized by national and local publications like Garden & Gun, Atlanta magazine, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In September 2024, Kramer announced the hiring of COO Brett Crowder to help guide the expansion of NFA Burger and explore opportunities for franchising the business.
“The goal is to open four [more locations] over the next couple of years, but the focus is finding the right opportunities, not the number,” Kramer told Rough Draft of future expansion. “We’re thinking about communities like Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Tucker, Roswell, Marietta, and Athens, among other spots.”
The original NFA Burger will operate at its present Dunwoody location, where Kramer continues construction on a stand-alone kitchen beside the Chevron station. After completion, NFA Burger will relocate operations to this new space, and the menu will expand to offer milkshakes and five types of sodas.
