Trees Atlanta is wrapping up its 40th anniversary events with a panel discussion on Downtown and the past, present, and future of its tree canopy.
“Atlanta’s Downtown Tree Planting Initiative” will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Trees Atlanta Kendeda TreeHouse, 825 Warner Street SW, Suite A. The event is free with registration here.
The discussion will center on Trees Atlanta’s progress in restoring the city’s urban canopy.Â
Marcia Bansley, Trees Atlanta’s first executive director, will share the story of the organization’s first tree planting and the environmental and community benefits of tree planting.Â
Jennifer Ball, Chief Operating Officer at Central Atlanta Progress, will discuss how strategic tree planting aligns with efforts to strengthen the economic vitality and resilience of Atlanta’s core.Â
Marcus Dottson, Downtown Planting Senior Manager at Trees Atlanta, will provide an update on the initiative’s progress and how expanding the urban canopy can help cool the heart of the “City in the Forest.”
