The City of Tucker and Trees Atlanta are inviting residents to get in on a new program that will add a canopy to Tucker neighborhoods–at no cost to homeowners.
The Front Yard Tree program is a partnership with Trees Atlanta and a number of local municipalities. Cities including Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Chamblee, Decatur, and Doraville have taken part in the program. A variety of trees are available including Tulip poplars, Sycamores, White oaks, Willow Oaks, Shumard Oaks, Tupelos, and Bald cypress.
The City of Tucker planted its first tree through the program last week and seeks to plant up to 40 shade trees in front yards across Tucker, according to a City of Tucker statement.
Trees will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Property owners who are interested in participating in the program may submit an online application at treesatlanta.org/yardtree.
