About the moderator

Rose Scott is an award-winning journalist and executive producer/host of “Closer Look” on Atlanta’s NPR station, WABE 90.1 FM. She joined WABE full-time in 2008 after freelancing in 2007. With nearly 30 years reporting in Atlanta, Rose covers education, minority health, immigration, criminal justice, and more. She has interviewed Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, foreign leaders, and local officials. Rose has anchored for NPR and the BBC and reported internationally, including on the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan. Known for thoughtful reporting, she has won numerous awards, including a Southeast Regional Emmy, Edward R. Murrow, and Atlanta Association of Black Journalists honors. Rose frequently speaks to students and was a 2024 commencement speaker at Oglethorpe University and Clayton State University.
